The Council of Brazilian Citizens in New England is one of the main tools of the new Brazilian consular policy. A Council exists in practically every consular jurisdiction where a significant number of Brazilian citizens live. The Council has become the main forum of discussion about the problems affecting Brazilians living abroad. Each Council is presided by the Brazilian Consul General in that particular jurisdiction and is integrated by leaders of different segments of the local Brazilian communities.
The general meetings of the Council of Brazilian Citizens in New England are open to the public and occur at least twice a year.
